...and we're off! This has been a long time in the frying pan, but the 1st of anything is always the hardest to get out (at least that's what I'm telling myself).
I thought "the end" was the best place to begin (I can't escape from that Beckettian cycle complex –
Jane, get me off this crazy existential thing!)
"That's all Folks!" was the sign-off to most of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons after 1937. It's also carved on Mel Blanc's tombstone. (I couldn't believe it as I passed by his grave.) If you're ever in LA do drop in at the
Hollywood Forever Cemetery - the largest collection of stars (no longer) on earth.
What's on
DannyFlix #1 ? – a collection of
Looney Tunes, death and destruction including:
- Bosco, the Talk-Ink Kid (the 1st Looney Tune - sort of)
- Premature Burial (a beautiful excerpt from Roger Corman's 1962 film)
- Wabbit Twouble (1941, with an unusual Elmer Fudd and gorgeous backgrounds)
- they caught the ferry (1948, Carl Theodor Dreyer's 11 min. short)
- Early to Bet (1951, Looney Tunes) one of my favorites -- "Not the gesundheit!"
- Looney Tunes pencil test remix (a DannyFlix original – 1 min.)
- Fin du Monde (collected clips from Abel Gance's 1931 disastrous disaster film)
- Heart of the World (2000, Guy Maddin's short - inspired by Fin du Monde)
- 43 exits (for W.) (a DannyFlix original)
- Slam Bam Ka-Pow! (a DannyFlix original - a landslide of 'toon violence)
- Unsung Hero: Ken Harris (a DannyFlix regular feature -- this time: the great Looney Tunes animator)
- Daisy (the infamous 1964 LBJ political ad)
Enjoy, Danny
